On the Threshold of Our Future
We’re living in exciting times here at Maryknoll Sisters, celebrating 100 years of making God’s love visible to needy people around the world (find out how you can celebrate with us here), and looking forward to many more years of making a difference in our world.

Recently, over 70 of our Sisters from around the world gathered for our InterAssembly Conference, where we discussed what the future held for us and the work we do, especially among the world’s most needy people and those that have no real voice in their cultures and their countries. From November 3 to 13, 2011, conference delegates brainstormed around the results of 28 different “futuring workshops”, participated in by almost 300 Maryknoll Sisters in their various regions around the world.
Thrillingly, the future, all present agreed, is full of promise: opportunities to extend the work we already do in areas ravaged by natural disasters, such as Haiti; to speak out on behalf of those who have no voice, such as victims of human trafficking and Mother Earth herself at the UN and other places; and helping those on the fringes of society, including victims of AIDS and their families.
We also look forward to partnering with other organizations currently working with the causes that beat deeply in Maryknoll Sisters’ hearts; extending our hand through rapidly advancing technology which enables us to engage via social media in live conversations with others around the world (visit us on Facebook and Twitter, as well as our website); caring for our aging Sisters while finding new ways to welcome others, both religious and lay people, to join us in making God’s love visible.
