Sister Elizabeth’s latest book is “Secret Melody,” a children's novel about a 12-year-old Peruvian shepherd boy and his little sister. You can find more of Sister Elizabth's children's stories at her My Story Hour blog.

“If I Am Found Worthy,” the life of Maryknoll Father William Kruegler who gave his life for children in Bolivia is another of her works. She served in the same parish as Kruegler, and says, “I wanted to tell the story of his life, his deep spirituality and joyfulness.

Sister Elizabeth entered Maryknoll from St. Stephen Parish, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1946. After studies in Medical Technology, she was assigned to Bolivia in 1954 and served in Riberalta and Montero. Later, in Peru, she earned both academic and professional degrees in Secondary Education. She has served in Bolivia, Peru, and Panama as well as in the United States. Teaching in parish and government schools, as well as in parishes, where she served as pastoral assistant, she has baptized, led Sunday Services in the absence of a priest and taught children of all ages. Experience with street children moved her to tell their stories. This led to work with the Peruvian Bishops Commission for Social Communications, where she scripted radio programs. In Hawaii working with homeless people in an ecumenical venture for the diocese, she wrote a weekly feature called OUR CHURCH for the Hawaii Catholic Herald. Presently, Sister Elizabeth serves as librarian at our Maryknoll Center, while she writes the History of Maryknoll Sisters Peru/Ecuador Region.
