Following completing of her nursing studies at St. Michael’s Hospital, Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Sister Josephine entered Maryknoll sisters in 1949.
She was assigned to Bolivia/Peru Region in 1953 and, after language school, taught first and second grade in Puno, Peru.
She then transferred to Riberalta, Bolivia where she initiated a Practical Nursing School. After ten years she was asked to be a member of the Nursing Faculty at the University of Sta. Maria in Arequipa, Peru.
Later she was also involved in parish work, health education and rehabilitation at the Family life Centre for Natural Family Planning in Arequipa. In 2008, the Centre celebrated 25 years of promoting and teaching the Billings Ovulation Method of Natural Family Planning. Sister Josephine was invited to be the keynote speaker at this event.
Sister Josephine is presently retired and lives at the Maryknoll Sisters Center in Ossining, NY.
