Sister Virginia Farrell found it in Perry County, Kentucky. Sister Virginia entered Maryknoll on October 18, 1964, from the Parish of Mother of Good Counsel in Lexington, KY. Sister Ginnie was assigned to Vietnam doing special work with AID in 1968.
In 1970, Sister Ginnie went to Language School in Cochabamba to prepare for her special assignment in Peru. Sister Ginnie worked in the earthquake area in Peru in 1970 for a three-month contract with the World Health Organization. Then in 1971, Sister Ginnie took an assignment in Jiloa, Nicaragua, and helped coordinate a health clinic while doing administrative work with the World Health Organization & Hope Hospital.
From 1972 to 1978, Sister Ginnie was in Kentucky at the Appalachian Regional Hospital in Hazard, as Staff Nurse, Head Nurse, Director of Nursing and was the hospital’s education coordinator. From 1979-80, Sister Ginnie was involved at the McDowell Cancer Network as Regional Coordinator. Sister Ginnie was also founder of Mountain Community Hospice in Kentucky and served as its program director and executive director from 1979 until 1992.Later that year, Sister Ginnie moved to Busy, Kentucky, as a retired volunteer in a local feeding center.
In 2005, Sister Ginnie was assigned to the Maryknoll Sisters Center from the Eastern Region. Her prayer ministry is vocations.
