Sister Eileen Franz, M.M.

Sister Eileen Franz entered Maryknoll on September 6, 1950, from St. Joseph’s Parish in Oradell, NJ. She received her R.N. from St. Francis Hospital, Jersey City in 1948. Her first assignment was to Taiwan-Hong Kong Region in 1953. Sister Eileen did language study at Miaoli in 1953 and at Towfen in 1954.
Sister Eileen moved to Hong Kong in 1956 to do office work. In 1957, Sister Eileen was back in Taiwan, where she was involved in catechetical and parish work in Tahu. In 1960, Sister Eileen was sent to Miaoli to do the same ministry and in 1962 at Towfen. In 1963, she was back in Miaoli but this time as an infirmarian.
In 1968, Sister Eileen once again brought her ministry to Hong Kong, where her role at Maryknoll Hospital involved working with medical records.
In 1979, Sister Eileen began service first, in the library from 1979-1982, followed by stints in the Maryknoll Sisters nursing home, treasury office, receptionist’s office, center health services, mail desk, and out-patient health services.
Sister Eileen resides at the Maryknoll Sisters Center where she volunteers as a nurse with our elderly and sick Sisters.
