  • What is your Spirituality?

Maryknoll Sisters of St Dominic, are a part of the Dominican Order, whose motto is “contemplate and give to others the fruit of your contemplation.” Our foundress, Mother Mary Joseph, called us to be ‘contemplatives in action” She was also very devoted to St. Teresa of Avila, whom she admired for her, her contemplation of the humanity of Christ as well as her common sense approach to religious life.

  • What are the Congregation’s Symbols?

    Chi Rho Ring

    How To Pronounce Chi Rho

The Maryknoll Sisters ring is the symbol of a Sister’s commitment. It is a chi rho with a circle around it. Chi Rho (Greek letters) symbolize the name of Christ. The circle symbolizes the world to which we are sent. Our mission is service of the universal mission of the Church. We are sent to make God’s Love Visible to all whom we meet! The ring is worn on the third finger left hand in memory of St. Catherine of Siena’s espousal to Christ. St. Catherine belonged to the Dominican Order.

    Mission Cross

On a Sister’s first assignment, she receives a Mission Cross. It symbolizes her commitment to Mission. It reminds her that “Mission is of the essence of the Church. The Church must be always and everywhere in mission.” (Vat II)

  • What is Your Charism?

Maryknoll Sisters’  charism is service to the universal mission of the Church. That is, making God’s Love visible. Sisters do that through many ministries, helping people in any way they can, as Jesus teaches, loving everyone.
