“Walking with Maryknoll, I am becoming aware of the meaning of life, my responsibilities, blessings and the richness of this life that God has invited me to live as a co-worker in creation.”
Sister Hyun Jung was born in Korea, where she earned degrees in agricultural economics and social work. She first began working with the Maryknoll Sisters in an effort to empower women trapped in the brutal world of prostitution and sexual abuse. She is currently studying Portuguese for her mission assignment to Brazil.
“In today’s world, many people struggle with feelings of emptiness and loss of meaning and hope in their lives, and the world is filled with despair and greed. When I see people’s hunger for hope, meaningful spirituality, and a sense of human dignity, I feel called to walk with them,” she says.
